I hope you have all had the opportunity to read through our recent OFSTED report. If you haven’t yet seen it you can access it via the ‘OFSTED’ tab at the top of the page or if you ask at the office you will be able to obtain a paper copy. Thank you to the wide range of you who have contacted school to congratulate the staff and pupils – it is very much appreciated. We are really looking forward to pushing on with the school even further over the next few years including:
- Establishing a world class phonics system.
- Implementing a reading spine that runs through the curriculum (this will ensure that all children consistently get an entitlement to access a broad range of quality texts by engaging authors).
- Reviewing our maths provision – on Wednesday Mr Lawrence and I went to learn about Singapore Maths. This is a new approach and we aim to visit some schools in the summer term to see how it operates.
- Further developing independent learning within the children through an enquiry based approach.
On a separate note, we have had lots going on in school recently including Miss Ling’s class assembly, Mornings of Music and next Tuesday afternoon at 2:30pm KS1 will be running a healthy eating café that will be open to all parents.
Finally, Shirley Reynolds from Road Safety has been in touch to inform me that the crossing patrol gentleman on the Park Hill junction has got another job closer to home. Unfortunately this means that they will begin a recruitment process once again, which is less than ideal. I have asked Shirley to come and meet with me to discuss the issue but I envisage we may have a period with no one on that dangerous junction. When I know more I will write to you further.
Have a great weekend – it’s meant to be sunny and 17˚C!
