Dear Parent or Carer,
Tomorrow we will be holding our transition day where all children will find out their new class, meet their class teacher and spend part of the morning together. This is the same format that we have done in previous years.
Following on from this, on Friday we will send out reports for all children including a new learning overview sheet created by each child with photographs and a separate sheet explaining levels. If you would like to provide feedback about the reports then please visit www.ht1parkhill.wordpress.com and click on the ‘report feedback’ tab. If you would like the opportunity to discuss your child’s report with their class teacher then please feel free to attend our optional parents open evening which runs from 4-6pm on Tuesday the 15th of July. There is no need to make an appointment and all meetings will be held in classes. We will also be holding a book fair in the hall on this day which will run from 3:30pm until 6pm – all funds raised will go towards the new school library.
Sports day will be taking place on Friday afternoon with the event beginning at 1pm. To help parents access the field we will be opening the bottom gate closest to Park Hill Lane at 12:55pm – please do not visit the main office as there is no through way to the field. As mentioned previously, sports day will take on a slightly different format to cater for the ongoing expansion works. Space on the field will be at an absolute premium and we ask kindly that all parents and visitors refrain from crossing the running track. We envisage that sports day will run until 3:30pm at the latest.
The expansion work is progressing well and if you are coming to the sports day you will see at first hand how far the project has moved as you will pass it accessing the field. The next phase of the project sees the school closed to all staff for the entire summer whilst essential internal restructuring works take place – this has meant that we have had to begin packing up key areas of the school. Currently the school environment is a work in progress and as we get closer to the 18th of July more of the school will be packed away. Please bear this in mind when you visit because the learning environment is not currently at the standard I would like although this is unavoidable.
On Thursday we will be partially open due to strike action. Once again I would like to thank staff for giving me an early indication of their intentions (legally they are not obliged to do this) because it has enabled us to give an advance warning of partial opening. The following classes will not be in school: Nursery, RH, LK, LM and MDL.
