I hope that you had a wonderful half term break and managed to spend some time together as a family. The past two days in school have been exciting and very busy as a result of the expansion project and we are hopeful that today we will receive an occupation certificate which means that the building will be handed over to the school. This is the first phase of the school taking full occupancy of the new building although we still need to add furniture, install interactive whiteboards and create a detailed plan of when and how we will move classes into this area. Having the certificate does mean that during this week we will hopefully have the opportunity for each class to have a tour of the new part of the building – this is something that I know the children are eager to do, as are we. In the short term, due to ongoing work in the main part of the school linked to creating a new staff room and additional canteen space, we plan to move Miss Nickerson’s class along with Miss Blaikie’s groups into two of the classrooms. We envisage this happening on Monday.
In time we will have a formal opening of the school where we plan to ask a number of high profile people and role models to officially launch this area although this will be when all external and internal works have been completed by Wates and the new build has been furnished. In the interim, we will be holding a series of drop in sessions after school (dates to be confirmed) where you may choose to come and see at first hand how the school now looks. In the meantime the pictures below give you a good indication of the progress made. We are almost there and I sincerely thank you for your support and patience over the past year.
